Arts Connect Volunteer Driver/Rider

We are seeking volunteers to provide transportation for students in Arts Connect, our program for court-involved girls. We are in need of drivers and riders as there must be two adults with the participants.  Transportation volunteers are critical to the program's success! Whether you can commit to the whole session, or just one week, we need your help.

Volunteer drivers must be 21 or older but riders only need to be at least 18 years old. Volunteers must also be female and pass a background check through Pierce County Juvenile Court. Volunteers are required to use Court vehicles to drive girls to and from class. Drivers are needed on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and the time commitment is usually about 1 pm to 7 pm. Volunteers are invited to stay through class and become a part of the class community, however at times, volunteers have also used class time to read, do homework or personal work.

Once you sign up, we will connect you with the information to get a background check and provide more specific details about this volunteer opportunity.  If you have any questions, please contact Ellen Aronson, Volunteer Manager, at

Arts Connect Winter Dinner Volunteer

Arts Connect is Hilltop Artists' program for court-involved girls. Each week we provide a healthy family-style dinner for the group and we are looking for volunteers to help provide meals for the program. We prefer to have volunteers who are able to make a regular commitment of once a month or once every other month, if possible.

The meal can be home-cooked or something that you pick-up and just deliver. We provide plates, bowls, utensils, napkins, cups, and serving utensils. Each meal should provide for 13 people.  Arts Connect is held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at a local Tacoma school. Dinner begins promptly at 6 pm. You can drop it off anytime between 3 and 5:50 pm but keep in mind we don't have any way to re-heat meals if they need to be hot.  A program crock pot is available, but needs to be arranged ahead of time.  You will need to transfer the meal to our program crock pot on the day of your meal as the crockpot can not be provided in advance.

Volunteers for this must be over 21 years of age and be willing to go through an in-depth background check through Pierce County Juvenile Court. Once you sign up, we will connect you with the information to get a background check and work with you to plan meals based on the participants' dietary restrictions and known food preferences, etc.
